Client-Directed Home Care
ComForCare Home Care (Edmonton, AB)

Client-Directed Home Care from ComForCare—Your Source for Homecare Assistance in Edmonton

How it Works

AHS’s new initiative—Client-Directed Home Care Invoicing (CDHCI)—takes a more individualized approach to senior home care in Edmonton and the rest of Alberta. Older adults and their families get a chance to select their desired homecare providers through this program. Most of the cost is covered by provincial healthcare. The program enables a significant number of eligible older adults to choose private nursing aides that offer personalized care. We work with you to find what services will be covered by AHS under this new initiative.

Types of Home Care Services Available in Alberta

  • Dementia Care in Edmonton – All about supporting individuals living with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia. Our caregivers go through our DementiaWise® program to learn about the complex needs of people with dementia. They focus on creating a safe and nurturing environment. Our caregivers help individuals with dementia in maintaining their independence and quality of life with patience and understanding.
  • Home Health Aides – Trained professionals who assist older adults with day-to-day activities while ensuring their safety in the comfort of the home. They offer essential support with tasks like bathing, dressing, other personal grooming, and mobility assistance. These professionals provide care and companionship, helping older adults preserve their independence as much as they’re able.
  • Respite Care in Edmonton – Helps someone when they need a shorter period of care (think months vs. years). It’s commonly used for people, especially older adults, who have a serious post-surgery recovery period or have recently had a severe health event like an accident or stroke. Respite care services can also offer primary caregivers an opportunity to rest and recharge, preventing burnout.
  • Private Duty Nursing – Ideal for older adults (and others) with complex medical needs. Our skilled care professionals deliver specialized services, including:
    •   Medication management
    •   Wound care
    •   Monitoring vitals
    •   And more
    • They work with other healthcare professionals, ensuring seamless continuity of care.
  • Chronic Disease Management – Best for people dealing with long-term health conditions such as heart disease or end-stage renal failure. Our experienced caregivers assist in medication management, helping maintain a healthy lifestyle, and offering emotional support. By managing symptoms and encouraging adherence to treatment plans, ComForCare’s professionals support clients in managing their chronic conditions effectively.
  • Foot Care in Edmonton – Essential for maintaining overall health, especially for older adults and people with diabetes. Both populations can lose a fair bit of sensation in their feet and may not feel small injuries and the beginning of infections. This can mean easily preventable health problems can become a threat. Our trained professionals offer foot care services including nail trimming, callus removal, and other services as needed. Regular foot care promotes mobility, prevents infections, and ensures the overall well-being of our clients.

What’s the Cost of In-Home Care?

This varies based on:

  • Type of services required
  • Number of care hours required per day/week
  • Magnitude of care needed

We understand you want the best, but still have a budget. We work closely with you to create customized care plans that meet both care and budget needs. Additionally, CDHCI could cover most or all the cost of care, depending on what you or your loved one need. The best way to get a clear figure for care costs is to speak with one of our team members directly.
