ComForCare Edmonton is a registered CDHCI provider, and we bill Alberta Blue Cross directly for your approved hours.
Your case manager decides which services are approved. They can include:
– Personal care: bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, mobility and transfers, home exercises, meals and medication assistance
– Homemaking linked to your health and safety at home (not as a stand-alone service)
– Respite for family caregivers, when your loved one can’t safely be left alone
Many families add private hours on top of their CDHCI hours, for example overnight care, companionship, or extra visits. We combine both in one care plan with the same caregivers. If our hourly rate is above the program’s maximum rate, we’ll explain the difference up front.

Patient and family-centred care is an innovative approach to the planning, delivery and evaluation of health care. This facilitates mutually beneficial partnerships among health care providers, patients and families. Patient- and family-centred care applies to people of all ages, and it may be practiced in any setting.

Clients and families are encouraged and supported in participating in care and decision making at the level they choose. When ComForCare caregivers assist with client care, caregivers work closely with clients and family members to determine scheduling and care needs. Family members can take as little or as much control over caregiving as desired, with ComForCare caregivers filling in the gaps or taking charge as needed. Meeting client needs and wishes is a priority. Read more about respite care for family caregivers.
